ALL STUDENTS: 

~Boys Mentoring will meet today in their assigned classrooms.  Please sign up in your rooms and report there to design your egg capsule with your mentee.

 

~Advanced seating tickets for the fall production of "Our Town" are on sale.  And get this: since "Our Town" is part of the D'Evelyn English Department curriculum junior year, all DHS students can get their advanced seats for 1/2 off!  So, be sure to bring your money a.s.a.p.

 

~Friends Relying on God's Son, FROGS Club, is meeting 7th hour today in Mrs. LeBlanc's room, E112.  New attendees are always welcome.

 

~Girls mentoring is now taking money for t-shirts. Please leave the $5 fee with your name in counseling. The deadline is Oct 5th. Also please turn in your “get to know you” form if you haven’t already!

 

~Start next week off with a moment of Zen … Join us at 7:15am for Monday Morning Mindfulness in the small gym.  Together, we will slow down, breathe, and set ourselves up for a great Monday!  No sign up required.  Just join us in the small gym!

 

~Today kicks off the NACAC College Fair, where almost every college in the United States is in Colorado for the four college fairs around Denver.  Over 45 Colleges will be visiting D’Evelyn throughout the next 9 days.  Students are welcome to come at any time of day from 7:30 am to 2 pm, with permission of their teacher.  Sign up using NAVIANCE so passes can be sent to you. 

 

~Next Monday, 8 amazing colleges will be visiting D’Evelyn starting at 8:30am.  Those colleges are Eckerd College, Montana Tech, College of Wooster, Indiana University @ Bloomington, Chapman University, Boston College, University of Michigan and finishing the day is MIT.  Several of these colleges are first time visitors.  These 30 minute visits are during class time and you will need a pass.  Sign up in Counseling so a pass can be sent to you.  Signing up in NAVIANCE has been a challenge for some students.  Remember, colleges look for demonstrated interest and these rep’s are reading your essay.  A name with a face is extremely beneficial!

 

~Purdue University from West Lafayette, Indiana will be in Counseling today at 1 pm, the last 20 minutes of 6th hour.  You will need a pass. 

 

~The In & Out-of-State College Fair at Mountain Vista School in Highlands Ranch is tomorrow from 10 am to noon.  Please pre-register as it will save you time in line.

 

~The Denver NACAC College Fair is this Sunday, Sept 30th, at the Denver Merchandise Mart from 1 to 4 pm.  Over 300 colleges and universities will be visiting with students.  This is a great way to see colleges that will not be visiting D’Evelyn.  Please pre-register. 

 

~Interested in traveling this summer? Find out more about traveling to Mexico or Costa Rica today during 7th hour in Mrs. Stevenson's class.

 

~Students, can you remember that one book that really stuck with you, inspired you and created your love of reading?  We are having a drawing in the library to celebrate these memorable books!!  Think about your all time favorite book and let us know what it is!!  Come to the library, fill out a slip and you will be entered in a drawing to win a prize.

 

SENIOR HIGH STUDENTS:

 

~11th graders will be taking the PSAT test on the morning of October 10th.  To prepare for the test you need to pre-bubble your answer sheets.  Pre-bubbling is scheduled for the cafeteria on Wednesday, October 3rd during 7th hour for students with last names A-K and Thursday, October 4th during 7th hour for students with last names L-Z.  Bring a number 2 pencil for pre-bubbling.

 

JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS:

~Attention all 7th and 8th graders!  Be a part of the new CyberPatriot informational meeting that starts today from 2:45pm to 3:30 in the computer room.  This club will be coached by the CyberSecurity Dept from Metro and Red Rocks.  This is a unique opportunity for those who enjoy computers.  Stop by Counseling to pick up a flyer.

~If you have a sibling of a current student and you want to enroll via the sibling lottery, the following information is for you:

The Jeffco Public Schools process for choice enrollment application and selection is going to change for this year’s enrollment cycle.  The new system will roll out in January 2019.  Because we do not know the specific details of how this program will work, we are asking interested families to stand by, and await instruction on how to complete the online choice enrollment application process through the new Enroll Jeffco platform that will be available throughout the district.  

 

~Tickets are now on sale during lunch for the fall production of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town". Seating is general admission. $8 for advance tickets, $10 at the door, students get one ticket at 1/2 price. Performances are next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7pm. Come support your drama program, and see why this is one of the most produced plays of the last century!

 

Continuing Parent Announcements:

 

~Interested in having your student travel to a Spanish speaking country this summer?  We are planning trips to Costa Rica, a sight-seeing trip July 9th-18th with Bear Creek High School, and to Mexico, a humanitarian trip with Student Reach.  There will be a student interest meeting today during 7th hour in Mrs. Stevenson's class.  We are still determining the dates for Mexico, so if you are interested, have your student bring a calendar to the meeting. ~October 4th will be picture retake day from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Picture retake means you have photos you purchased and are not happy with the picture. You need to bring back the original pictures in order to get them taken again. Students that have not had your picture taken at all this year, please stop by to have your picture taken.

 

~Please join us at the accountability meeting on October 9th at 5:30 pm in the library where we will introduce our newest D’Evelyn staff members. Steering will also give a brief program overview from the D’Evelyn Founding Document. Any updates on the 6th grade transition along with other accountability subcommittees – Student achievement and surveys – will also be shared at this meeting. We hope to see you there!

~Parents of 11th and 12th graders:  If you want to OPT OUT of having your students CONTACT INFORMATION given to the military, you must log into Jeffco Connect and do so.  Click on your students name and then on enrollment.  Next, scroll down and click on Opt out.  The deadline for this to be done is today!! Call Mrs. Brown in counseling if you have any questions.

Hey Jags, keep collecting those Box Tops.  When you bring them in please make sure they are not expired.  The collection box is located just inside the doors of the front office. Thanks for your continued support!

~HOLY COW- TIME FOR CHICKEN!!!! TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Come to the Chic-Fil-A on 5260 S Wadsworth from 4-8pm to help support the Spanish Honor Society. It's gonna be SO LIT. 

 

~Nebraska Wesleyan from Lincoln, Nebraska known for their small class size and 98% of students receive financial aid. They will be in Counseling during 7th hour today to meet with interested students.

 

~Tomorrow, the largest school mascot, weighing 11,000 pounds, seating 25 people and entirely run by students, is the Boilermaker Special from Purdue University.  Purdue will be here at 1 and not 1:45pm.  You will need a pass from class, make sure to sign up on NAVIANCE.

~Congrats to Emily Belmonte who competed for Green Mountain High School gymnastics last night and had an amazing meet! Her podium finishes were: 5th for All-Around & Bars, and 3rd on Beam.

~There are about 32 students that have not turned your academic and/or behavioral contracts, please bring them to the office right away!! Come check with the main office if you are not sure.

~Jags, the lost and found will be donated to charity after school on Friday!  Be sure to check through the items. Some of the items are from the locker rooms at the beginning of summer..

~Congrats to the boys’ tennis team for a 7-0 sweep of Green Mountain yesterday. They have clinched the conference title for this year, and have one more home match before regionals. Come cheer on the team against Conifer Thursday at 3:30, and support our seniors Dom Cushnie, Keith Hedlund, and Cambel Rule in their final match! Go Jags!

ALL STUDENTS: 

 

~Biola University is known for a famous alumnus, the director of Dr. Strange.  They use real cadavers on campus and situated 30 minutes north of Disneyland.  Biola is located in La Mirada, CA.  They will be in Counseling during 7th hour today, check them out!

 

~ HEY D’EVELYN!! Do you LOVE Chic—Fil-á?! Have you seen the orange signs around school ? Come and support Spanish Honor Society this Thursday from 4-8pm before the LEAGUE VOLLEYBALL game!! 5260 S Wadsworth location.

~The 7th Grade Student council elections resulted in the following people being elected: Cal Foster as president, Max Monroe as Vice-president, and representatives Tony Adams, Mathias Bauer, Ciara Knoedler, Melesse Sanders, Vishnu Pothera, and Devyn Stevenson.  Congratulations to those elected and thanks for a very spirited campaign all around.  Our first meeting is TODAY in Mr. Beams room during 7th hour.  Sign up with your social studies teacher and then come on over.

~Today is the optional College Essay Workshop for Seniors in Counseling.  This is a great time to focus and hopefully finalize your essays! 

 

~Seniors, are you overwhelmed with the common app or other college applications? Never fear your counseling team is here! Come down to counseling today during 7th hour for our common app workshop where we can answer all your questions, help get you started, and/or anything else you may need to make the process less intimidating.

 

JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS:

~On Wednesday, Sept. 26th 7th graders with last names A-L will report to the cafeteria for 7th hour to meet with Mr. Northway and complete a needs assessment survey.  On Thursday, Sept. 27th ,7th graders with last names M-Z will report to the cafeteria for 7th hour to meet with Mr. Northway as well.

 

DAZZLING JAGS!

 

~Congratulations to the Marching Band for a fierce performance on Saturday at the Monarch Marching Competition.  The band placed first in 3A competition!

 

~Congrats to the Boys’ tennis team for getting 2nd out of 8 teams at the Littleton tournament!  Brandon Pennington and Phoenix Lee both got 1st place in 1 and 2 singles. Chance Palmer and Coltin Spiller got 2nd at 3 doubles.  Carter Smith got 3rd in 3 singles along with Clint Gersabeck and Mason Gustafson at 4 doubles and Carter Dart and Dominic Cushnie got 4th at 1 doubles along with Keith Hedlund and Issac Li at 2 doubles.  Please come support the boys this week as they take on Green Mountain on Tuesday and Conifer on Thursday at home.  Go Jags!

~Parents of 11th and 12th graders:  If you want to OPT OUT of having your students CONTACT INFORMATION given to the military, you must log into Jeffco Connect and do so.  Click on your students name and then on enrollment.  Next, scroll down and click on Opt out.  The deadline for this to be done is September 28th. Call Mrs. Brown in counseling if you have any questions.
